The Rule of Gnosis
Doctrine & Interpretation
A Pastoral Guide for Seekers
The Rule of Gnosis is the spiritual foundation of The True Testament Church.
It teaches that every person carries a divine spark, that awakening begins with honest questioning, and that the path to the Fullness is discovered through inner truth rather than external authority.
Below is the pastoral interpretation of each section — not as rigid doctrine, but as guidance for spiritual growth.
SECTION A — The Voice Within
The inner voice is sacred.
The Rule begins by reminding us that revelation is older than the world itself. The “Voice Within” is the whisper of the Hidden One — the divine presence that speaks inside every seeker who is willing to listen.
Spiritual meaning:
God is not found in buildings, titles, or institutions.
The True God is encountered in the quiet chambers of your own mind and heart.
SECTION B — The Spark of Light
Every soul carries the Light.
This section affirms an unshakable truth: you are not separated from the Divine. You carry a flame from the Pleroma, the Fullness of God.
Spiritual meaning:
You are worthy.
Your existence is not an accident.
Your inner light connects you to the Source.
This is the heart of our message:
You already contain the divine seed. Awakening is remembering it.
SECTION C — The Path of Seeing
Honest questions are holy. Doubt is not a sin.
The Rule encourages seekers to question, examine, and push against inherited ideas. Questioning breaks the “cords of the archons” — the forces that create ignorance, shame, and spiritual confusion.
Spiritual meaning:
Doubt is not the enemy of faith.
Doubt is the doorway to deeper truth.
This is why our church encourages discussion, study, and open inquiry.
SECTION D — The Teacher
The Teacher awakens, not commands.
This section reflects the heart of the True Testament: Jesus’s role is to awaken knowing, not demand worship or obedience.
Spiritual meaning:
Faith is not submission.
Faith is the discovery of your true nature.
And the mysteries — the deeper teachings shared with those ready — are to be held with care and spoken with compassion.
SECTION E — Mary of the Light
Wisdom has a voice, and her name is Mary.
Mary Magdalene is honored as the bearer of Wisdom (Sophia) and as the first teacher of the Light after Jesus. She symbolizes the rise of the silenced and the restoration of sacred truth.
Spiritual meaning:
No one has the authority to silence the Light within you.
Wisdom rises where she is welcomed.
SECTION F — The Nature of the World
The world is imperfect, but it has purpose.
The Rule teaches that the world was shaped by “lesser hands”—not evil, but limited. This world is not a punishment; it is a place of learning.
Spiritual meaning:
Do not cling to the world, but do not hate it.
Your soul grows here.
This balances spirituality with compassion for the human condition.
SECTION G — The Way of the Seeker
Reject control; embrace seeking.
This section rejects oppressive doctrines and encourages direct inner experience.
Spiritual meaning:
No institution or authority can stand between you and the Divine.
The One Above All delights in your seeking.
Your spiritual exploration is sacred.
SECTION H — The Form of the Soul
Your soul knows your true form before your body does.
This is one of the most transformative teachings in the Rule. It proclaims that identity is rooted in the soul, not the body — and that the body is a “garment” shaped by forces that do not define you.
Spiritual meaning:
Your deepest identity is spiritual, not imposed.
You have the right to name yourself according to the truth within you.
When you reveal your true form — whatever that means for your journey — you walk in the Light.
Denying your inner truth veils your Spark.
This is one of our core doctrines:
Identity is a sacred aspect of gnosis.
Your true form is known by God before it is known by the world.
SECTION I — Return to the Fullness
The path is transformation, not perfection.
The ascent described here is not about escaping the world, but about growing through stages of awakening:
Spark → Flame → Knowing → Love → Ascent
Spiritual meaning:
Awakening is gradual.
Love is the highest form of knowing.
Those who awaken are never cast out.
The Fullness is open to all.
SECTION J — The Practice of Light
Spiritual practice is symbolic, not supernatural.
Bread symbolizes knowledge; wine symbolizes awakening.
The Rule emphasizes the inner meaning behind rituals, not magical thinking.
Spiritual meaning:
Spiritual practice is a reminder of your inner transformation.
Mystical texts guide the seeker through symbolic language.
Miracles are not spectacles — they are shifts in consciousness.
WHAT THE RULE TEACHES ABOUT HUMANITY
From the Rule of Gnosis, our church affirms:
Every person carries divine Light.
Questioning is sacred.
Wisdom rises where she is welcomed.
Identity is known by the soul before the body.
Self-revelation is a spiritual act.
Love is the culmination of gnosis.
No awakened soul is rejected.
This is the heart of our path.
